Has communication broken down or changed in your relationship?

During the early stages of a relationship, we cannot imagine taking each other for granted and not talking things through with our partner, however over time, sadly, we often find ourselves slipping into ways of communicating and behaving that can have a negative effect on our relationship.

Life can be busy at times and we are pulled in different ways by such things as running a home, work, or looking after family. Conversation and communication can start to be just around the "practical" or perhaps routine things we all have to do.

When did you and your partner last sit down, talk, and really listen to how each other was feeling? When did you last have fun together or really enjoy each others company?

If communication breaks down, we can start to feel unheard or overlooked, this can then lead to resentment and we may start to avoid intimacy.

Relationships drift apart and before you know it the communication has stopped, at this point one partner may look outside of the relationship for comfort or support.

Don't wait until your relationship hits rock bottom before talking with a counsellor.

Sometimes just a few session of couples or relationship counselling can be all that you need to get back on track again and to start communicating effectively with each other.

Counselling sessions to help with effective communication take place in a safe and comfortable room at the Health Hydro, Milton Road, Swindon.

Please contact me to ask any questions about counselling or how couples counselling can help with effective communication in your relationship.
